The Man in the Hat

The Handsome Man in the Hat

From Utah, the man in the hat writes "The weather was really warm and windy on Saturday.  I think we hit 80 degrees. But then Sunday we had rain mixed with snow and highs in the 40s. Today it seems to be warming up again."

I guess it's typical Spring weather.  However, it has been an odd winter.  Here in Southern California it hasn't really been winter at all, beyond a few cold weeks in December - but then we got a burst of it in February again.  Weird.

In Utah, they've barely had any snow.

It makes me wonder what summer will be like this year.  Or if the lack of much of a winter means anything at all.  The weather always goes in cycles, doesn't it?

Anyway, I thought the "pathetic" snowfall photo (above) was rather pretty.

Last year the man in the hat was complaining about shoveling snow clear through April.  There's always something!

Just goes to show, you can't second guess Mother Nature when it comes to spring weather.  The inhabitants of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area of Texas found that out with their wild tornado weather on Tuesday!  My heart goes out to everyone who may have lost their homes in those few horrible minutes.  I can't imagine how frightening that would be, and I've lived through a few majorly frightening earthquakes since coming to California, not to mention the huge Arizona dust storms which just turn the sky red and reduce visibility to the end of your nose.

I suppose it just shows you that you really can't complain about, or control, the weather.  If it were always pleasant and a constant 70 degrees outside, we'd find a reason to complain about that, as well.

At least I think so, being human.

So, enjoy the rest of the month April wherever you are, and whatever it brings.  Just maybe hold onto your hats and keep your 72-hour pack close by.

A-yup.
