A Little Cottage in Oregon

My friend Desiree lives in this adorable little house up in Oregon.  She is living the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young dream!  Remember the song lyric?
Our house is a very very very fine house
With two cats in the yard...
Now, see if you can spot the kitties in the yard!  (Sorry all you British folks.  For you, that's a GARDEN, not a yard.  We Americans call it the back yard.  We're funny that way. But it's really a garden.  Cheerio, then!  Carry on!)

Now, where was I?  Yes, spot the kitties in the ya... garden!

Quick!  I dare ya!
Where's Rocky?  Where's Angel?
Find the Kitties in the Picture
If you need some help, here they are.  I had to enhance the picture somewhat to see Angel at all, and it's still a little difficult!

Angel drinking from the birdbath
Angel is gray.  She is a stealth kitty.  She also appears to think the birdbath is for her own personal use. I'm guessing the birds are happy to let her have it to herself when she's in the garden.

Rocky thinks he is invisible behind the flowers.
Rocky hiding behind the flowers
Well, he is.  Almost.

According to Desiree, Rocky is thinking, "Gee, where are all the birds?   They were here just a few minutes ago when Angel and I came out to play!"

I think kitties think that a lot.

This year, Desiree planted scarlet runner beans.  They turned out beautifully, and the hummingbirds really went crazy over the sweet nectar!

A perfect hummingbird restaurant: a feeder and sweet dessert flowers below!
Desiree says she got the idea for planting the scarlet runner beans from Thomas Jefferson's kitchen garden. She visited Monticello in 1995 and the idea stuck with her.

A beautiful idea, don't you think?

According to Desiree, if you walk out to the front of the house, you have to whisper.  You don't want to disturb the fairies with loud noises!

They live in the Coral Bells, you see - that's the plant with the purple leaves.  According to legend the bells ring when the fairies sing.

So, SH-H-H-H-H-H-H-H!
