Salt Lake in the Spring

The iconic Salt Lake Temple rises above a field of flowers
The first week of April, which is Latter-day Saint General Conference time, is usually cold and rainy.  Being located high in the mountains means that sometimes it even snows for Conference.  This year, there was a brief respite over the weekend, with pleasant temperatures and blooming flowers.

What a beautiful sight!

My good friends Don and Meldee
My friend Don sings with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  I usually do a pre-Conference post about him, urging folks to play the "Where's Don?" game as they watch the broadcast.

I missed doing that this year!

So, I'm doing a "Here's Don!" piece instead.  (He's there in the photo above, by the way... just in case you missed him!)

Don and his beautiful wife Meldee are great people, and terrific picture takers.  My thanks to them for these beautiful shots of Temple Square showing the brilliant onslaught of Spring which has taken over there.

Kudos to the Temple Square gardeners, by the way.  I'm sure a lot of work goes into making everything this gorgeous.

Emma and Taylor
My lovely young friends Emma and Taylor happened to be visiting Salt Lake City from their native Indiana, just a few weeks prior to these other photos being taken.  It's amazing how much the flowers have bloomed in that brief time.

The cherry trees on Temple Square
Meldee writes that the cherry trees are just getting ready to bloom.  When they do, it will be spectacular!

I understand that the following day, after all these photos were taken, it rained heavily.

But for a glorious weekend, Nature cooperated, and sure wore some lovely clothes.

We woke up to snow here this morning--good thing those tulips can take it!

Thank you for sharing Don's pictures! Yesterday the 16th was our 19th anniversary but it was so cold outside we didn't stop to take pictures.
