Blizzard Back East

This is A LOT of snow on the deck outside the sliding glass door!
This past weekend brought a huge monster snowstorm to America's New England area (and beyond). Although Massachusetts got the brunt of it, I was naturally concerned about my friend Donna who lives in my birthplace state of Connecticut.

Donna wrote to tell me that she had survived very well.  She even sent some great pictures to show what the storm did to her house and garden!

She writes, "...we were fine.  We didn't even lose power, although the lights flickered a number of times Friday evening and Saturday morning.  We got a LOT of snow.  About 28 inches."

Donna says, "I almost got snowed in!  Kept clearing the porch in front of the door every few hours."

Walking... er, slogging... through two feet of snow is hard work!  Donna did that - slogged through the snow - to take this picture of her house just to show the extent of the snow cover.  You can barely see the mailbox as an oblong silver sliver in the left foreground - it's almost completely buried in the snow.

Kindly neighbors to the rescue!
On Saturday morning, Donna got a call from one of her wonderful neighbors.  He asked if Donna could use some help digging out of her driveway.  She was thrilled.

She writes, "They were so nice.  He used his snow blower, and his boys shovelled, and it was done in no time!... What a blessing!"

You don't hear about these little acts of kindness on the news, but it warms my heart to know that good people are watching over my friends in faraway places!

Hope wherever you are, this finds you safe and snug.
