Thanksgiving With the Saints

The Pickering Ward Gang
For Thanksgiving Day, I was privileged to be invited to a special ward Thanksgiving.  This was held for all the singles and others who had no place to go for the big day.

I thought there would be a couple of singles there, but to my delight there were all kinds of people, more than 40 individuals, including a few families that I love very much.

I was very thankful!
Darryl and the tables set beyond.
In fact, there were so many people, they had almost not set up enough chairs for everyone.

There was a lovely appetizer table set up with crackers, cheese, olives and all kinds of sliced fruit. That was really yummy!

Karin and her husband Darryl are wonderful friends.  I was so happy to see them there!  I wore my Thanksgiving Turkey pin for the occasion, even though it clashed with my sweatshirt.   Some things are tradition!
The appetizer table was depleted after the grazing!
Our beloved missionary couple, the Allens, and our good Bishop Prescott and his wife presided over the kitchen.
These people are always in motion!
The meal itself consisted of turkey and all the fixings!  There was a huge tossed green salad, two kinds of sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy and, of course, stuffing and cranberries!

Everything was very yummy.

The tables had been so very nicely decorated.  There were butter and rolls on each of the four church tables that had been set up, and large pitchers of water.

It was a serve yourself kind of set-up, but that didn't detract from our enjoyment of every little thing.

I had two the Bishop's children at my table
The food was very good.  The conversation was fun!

Everyone seemed to happily stuff themselves.

I really enjoy Thanksgiving.  It was fun to spend it with some of my Ward members.

My plate - lots of yum!
Later, there were four or five different kinds of pies.  I chose a delicious pecan pie and ate half of that before I slipped into a food coma.  That was the perfect ending to a splendid meal.

Hope your Thanksgiving was as enjoyable as mine was!

It doesn't matter if your pin didn't match your shirt - it matches the holidays and that is what matters!! Looks like a lot of fun!
