Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Green Fountains at the Irish Fair at the Pomona Fairgrounds
Americans are funny.  I don't think the Irish celebrate St. Patrick's Day with as much gusto as we do. Every American is Irish on St. Patrick's Day.  We go out of our way to wear green and eat corned beef and cabbage, and, for those who imbibe, I hear there is a profusion of green beer across the land.

They were even talking about green bagels on TV this morning!

To cash in on this madness - at least in Los Angeles County - there is an Irish Fair held every year in March.  It started small, and now is held at the Fairplex in Pomona - a huge complex that is the site of the Los Angeles County fair every year.

The Irish Fair was held over last weekend, March 9th and 10th.  It featured nine stages of true Irish music, cloggers and Irish Dancers, sheepherding demonstrations, and a huge street of vendors dedicated to Irish Imports.

A Celtic Arts Center featured an Irish All-You-Can-Eat Buffet.  (For more on that, see RoboClow's blog "Fine Dinning" through the link on the right.)

My friend Robin went, at least partially, for the music.  She took this photo of Lisa Haley's group performing::

Lisa Haley is a Grammy nominated fiddler, dancer, vocalist and songwriter with Louisiana Bayou roots.  For more information about her group, you can visit her website here: Lisa Haley

I thought it would be fitting to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by posting Robin's great picture of the green fountain, and the Zydekats... and by mentioning that, although you've missed the Fair this year, it will be held again next year - and over 3 days this time - March 7th, 8th, and 9th, 2014.  (Now you have something fun - and Irish - to look forward to!)

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to wearing some green myself, and then eating some corned beef and cabbage on Sunday, after church!

However you celebrate it,

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
