Community Theatre

My friends, the Lakeys, busy at work on the set
Community Theatre is a wonderful outlet for many talents, not just performing onstage.  Witness these photos documenting a flurry of set building and painting for November's production of "Man of La Mancha".

The Whittier Community Theatre (WCT) is currently performing "Laura", a film noir-style murder mystery with a twist or two to keep you on the edge of your seat!  This show premiers on Valentine's Day.

Set painting is not without its perils
These photos show a typical work day at the theatre.  The WCT has the benefit of being able to use a lovely City of Whittier auditorium within the Community Center facility off Washington Avenue and Mar Vista.

You can see some of the bustle of preparing a set to help facilitate theatre magic.  There's a lot of hard work that goes into every production, and it's all volunteer work, done by folks who love the theatre.

Karen and Roxie discussing the settings
Ever wonder where these people come from?

They are just regular folks like you and me.

Anyone can join in the fun.  The WCT is always looking for people to hammer, paint and perform. There is also a need for costumers, ushers and ticket takers and many other tasks that go into a successful theatre season.

Knowing how to wield a tape measure is also a great talent!
Hope to see you on the 14th!
