An Apostolic Visit
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served as the ninth President of Brigham Young University.
We were blessed with a visit from Apostle Holland this past weekend here in the Whittier, California Stake.
With nearly 3,000 stakes in the Church currently, we estimate he'll be probably be back in the Whittier Stake again in 29 years... and as he's 71 now, that could be problematic. Not entirely impossible, but certainly improbable.
So, although we get to hear from him via satellite during General Conference, this was a rare and unique opportunity for us to hear this wonderful General Authority speak - up close and personal, without having to travel to Salt Lake City.
It seems almost inconsequential that we got a new Stake Presidency this weekend, too. (That's what Elder Holland was here for.)
All I can say is, what a rare treat. He spoke with power and authority and bore a powerful testimony of the divinity and reality of our Savior, Jesus Christ, as well as the divinity of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - the living Christ's church here on the earth. How someone can be in his presence and not know he is an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, is beyond me. The Spirit didn't just whisper this to me, it practically shouted.
Wow.
I count his visit as one of the real choice spiritual experiences of my life.
