I ordered an Irish potato pancake, called a "Boxty" filled with corned beef and cabbage, It came with horseradish cream and British Colman's mustard. Delicious!
We ordered a side of Irish soda bread and were not disapointed. It is baked on the premises and is delicious and hearty, Here is one last piece of white, and one of wheat that we managed to have left over after the feeding frenzy,
Several of our group ordered the Irish combo, which consisted of a small shepherd's pie, a small cup of Irish stew, and a small boxty filled with chicken and basil sauce. Those who ordered it enjoyed the variety. One of our party didn't care for the stew, but all thought the boxty was delicious.
According to their website, the bar at Finn McCool's is the real deal, taken apart in Ireland and shipped from Ireland through the Panama canal. It's beautful, but I couldn't get a good photo of the bar itself.
Here's a candid shot of our revelers. I caught Mike and Leslie in mid-bite. Jackie's on to me, and Mark is about to tell me to stop it! Ha. (Not really.)
Here's Peggy posing by the historic bar. Behind her is some lovely stained glass, which, sadly, this photo doesn't do justice.
It was a lot of fun, and something completely different.
Lisa, Robin and I capped our day with a dip in our other friend Mark's pool and an excellent barbeque by our favorite Chef - Mark. I can't believe I didn't photograph the pork tenderloin! The entire day was a gastronomic delight.
